1769 - In the first year of it's founding, no Indians were converted.
1770 - 1774 only 116 Indians baptized.
31 Indians baptized in the summer of 1775.
567 Indians were baptized in 1797.
In the 65 years the 21 missions were open around 79,000 Indians were baptized, sometimes by force or without full consent and knowledge of what it meant to be baptized.
Baptized Indians were to remain in the mission to live and learn the Spanish culture including dress and language, with Indians learning rudimentary Spanish.
